High Adventure 2019

We have a reservation for Summit Bechtel Reserve, for river rafting, mountain biking, and marksmanship.  A few scouts have communicated that they would like to explore an independent high adventure trip. If you researched an idea and want to present it, please contact Mr. Schmitt by next week.

Kiwanis Peanut Day – Mr. Colliander

Kiwanis is holding its annual peanut day this Friday Sept. 28 – 29.  Mr. Colliander is a sponsor for this organization and is providing info and order forms (attached) for anyone wanting to support and order from them.  He will be at the next meeting to collect any order form.  If you prefer to order on-line and pay by credit card, please use this link: Order Online

JDRF – Opening Flag Ceremony – Sunday Sept 30,  8:30am  – Mr. Ruggiero

Color Guard needed to perform opening flag ceremony for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation One Walk which is Sunday Sept. 30, at 8:30am at St. James Farm.  Looking for 6 scouts to perform the opening flag ceremony at this year’s JDRF One Walk before a large crowd.  Scouts will perform flag ceremony before the One Walk event starts.  We will only run the flag ceremony and depart soon after the walk begins.  For details contact Mr. Ruggiero.

Here is a link for more information about the walk: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation One Walk Information.

Fall Court of Honor – Sunday Sept 30th 3 – 5 p.m.

The Fall Court of Honor is Sunday September 30th from 3-5 p.m. at First Congregational Church – Pilgrim Hall. All scouts and parents are encouraged to attend.  Scouts will be recognized for their service and achievements, and the leaders will update everyone on the Troop’s events and plans. It’s a great way to support the boys, and see all Troop 41 has to offer.  Dinner will be provided by Barone’s.

Please bring a dessert to share for the sweet table. Scouts should wear their Class A uniforms.  The PLC should plan to arrive at 2:30 p.m. to help with set up and stay a little after to help with take down.

As in years past, a “hand me down table” will be set up. Scouts who have outgrown uniforms, Class B, Class C, hiking boots, hoodies and other Troop and camping gear are encouraged to bring it and add it on the table. Younger scouts will benefit from your generosity!  Please be sure all gear is clean and gently used.  Please RSVP to Michelle Andringa by Monday September 24th.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING COURT OF HONOR:

Scouts are expected to wear the proper pants and shoes with their Class ‘A’ shirts for all formal events, such as the Court of Honor.  Pants can be green or khaki. Flip flops, slides, jeans, plaid shorts should NOT be worn with class ‘A’s.  The purpose of the scout uniform is to give the boys a sense of belonging and loyalty to their patrol and troop.  It shows commitment to the aims and purpose of scouting, as well as a positive image within the community.  It shows a scout to be someone of good character, who is prepared and helpful.  Leaders in uniform set good examples and are perceived as true leaders.
